I have a 50 HP merc big foot outboard. I don't think this has anything to do with the motor.
Occasionally I have to prime the bulb while I'm running cuz it starves for gas. I'm thinking the coupler is the culprit as i replaced it once some time ago and was wondering if there's anything better out there in the way of hose couplers or do I have to do some maitenance like oil the coupler to soften gasket, etc. Or is this a common replacement thing(replace coupler) to do?

Re: Fuel line couplers

I've had serious trouble with aftermarket plastic couplers. Use only the Mercury metal ones.

Air getting into the fuel suction line is one way to seriously burn down a 2 cycle engine.
