Can I pull the powerhead off a 1998 150hp (DFI) Bluewater Mercury long shaft and replace it with a powerhead from a 1997 175hp (EFI) short shaft? I don't think the shaft lengths matter but figured I would mention it.

Thanks
John

Yes it will fit ...if your going to try to mount the DFI components to the 175 block it wont work as block casting and mounting bosses as different..

Re: Mercury 150hp (DFI) to 175hp (EFI) Powerhead Swap

Excellent thanks for the fast reply. No I am just looking to do a simple swap, not interchange any other parts besides the powerheads. How hard is to pull the powerhead? Do I have to dismantle much of the engine and can leave the engine attached to the transom while I do it?

One other question, what is the deal with the Blue Water model? That is the model engine I currently have and want to drop the 175hp on.

I've attached a copy of the ID plate from the engine. Can you tell me what model engine I would look on Mercury's website based on this photo? Where is the serial number located?

Thanks
