I have a 1987 Mariner 75 HP that exhibits a weird problem. It will start right up with only a little use of the enrichener. If I back out of the slip sucessfully it will run all day with various starts and stops as needed. No problems.

BUT if I stall it while backing out of the slip, theres NO way I can restart it for several hours. I'm guessing its flooding but if I leave the throttle wide open it won't start. If I leave WOT for 5 minutes or so to allow any excess gas to evaporate - still no start, just cranks and cranks.

If I come back later in the day it will start and run as usual. This problem ONLY occurs when I stall it by putting it in gear within a few minutes of startup.

Any suggestions appreciated, I can never tell if I'm gonna go boating or not !
