Need some help with some wiring. Just got done rewiring a mid to late 70's 850. Most of the wiring was shot so I had to use the wiring diagram I found online. My ign switch does not have all of the same letters. I have a white going to 12v key on, a red going to batt, yellow to start, and orange to a spot on the switch that says M. The boat starts and seems to run ok but whenever I switch it off it keeps running. What wire needs to be grounded with the key off? Thanks

By the way this is a distributorless motor

Orange is the kill wire. It needs to be grounded to kill the motor. Do you have a ground connected to the ign switch? If not, you need one. It will connect to another M terminal or to the G terminal, on the ign switch.

Ok. I have the ground on the center post which has a C. I noticed the two m terminals made a circuit whenever the key was off so I figured maybe that was it. Just did not want to fry the cdi box. Thanks[/I]

C is likely for the choke solenoid. Ground one of the M terminals.
