Hi all,
New to the forum but have received very good advice in the past and thought I would try. I have a 250hp Mercury Saltwater Series EFi that has been gradually misperforming. She recently wouldn't start. She would turn over but wouldn't start. Then I checked all the plugs and plug wires to find that one of my plug boots was broken at the elbow and that the tip of the plug was fried (all brown). I then checked the other plugs and each had some carbon deposits and a little oil. My questions are (i) should I replace the plug boot or by a whole new coil, and (ii) are the deposits on the other plugs a result of having a bad boot or an indication of something more?
