Hi, when I shift into forward it sometimes makes a real hard slamming sound. Am I not engaging enough or is it something to be addressed? Any help is greatly appreciated. Also to shift into for. or rev. the control seems pretty tight and takes pretty good force to shift. Thanks.

It sounds like a number of things. RPM should be 900 or less. it also sounds like your shift cable is bad. Also, when you shift move the lever positively and decisively into gear. Do not baby it.

i have ran a 1992 135 since new,. check detent setting on the contol box,. or you may have to lube your shift cables. to do this you may have to remove the cable. wd40 is good for cleaning, but give the cables a few shots of light oil after they are clean. let the oil run through them after they are clean and they should move freely.
