Well go back and read the responses you have received......

"A regular automotive starter/alternator shop may be able do a rebuild. If not, a new one is available right here at iboats for less than $200."

Have you purchased the proper manual?

im not an expert but a 200 Hp outboard on a 16 footer seems like overkill. i would recommend getting the motor running and then remove it and sell it. you will get enough money from the sale to buy a newer, running, less maintenance and hours 75-125 Hp outboard. seeing how you said you were not going to use it for a speed boat and dont really need the extra Hp, all your doing is paying for extra gas, parts cost and so on.

btw, my 200 Hp 20ft bass boat topped out at 70 mph on my gps, so i beleive your lighter, smaller boat could easily do 75 mph.

Looking over your pictures I got maybe bad news for you, thats a 1979-81 model 150 or 175 not a 200hp and am leaning toward 150 as the 175 had a fine tooth flywheel these years. The reason I can tell is: old style heads, plunger choke, idle stablizer box, vertical crankcase intake, no oil injection boss, old style poppit system, old style trim and old style control box. This engine if a 150 will be prop rated around 135-140 hp and a 175 around 150-160hp.
