Trim not working on 40hp Mercury/Triton Pontoon

I have a 2006 Triton Pontoon with a 40hp Mercury motor on it. The trim/tilt switch on both the throttle and the motor have quit working. Unfortunately, it is trimmed up a little too high to run smoothly! A mechanic at a local resort suggested that it was an electrical issue. Any suggestions or ideas?

I don't know but if everything else works then maybe it is fused (blown) or a wire is unplugged.
