fuse holder getting hot

Does anyone know of an issue of the fuse holder on the voltage regulator getting hot to the point of melting the plastic and not burning the fuse? It did this to me on 2- 2006 Mercury 60 HP 4-strokes. If so what did you do to rectify this from recurring
