I have a Mariner 2M - 6A1-030823 2hp, 2 stroke. The person I bought it from said it did not have any spark, and true to life, it does not. I was hoping for a sheared key on the flywheel, but no such luck. I pulled the flywheel, cleaned the points, made sure there was nothing obviously wrong, metered the points and capacitor and checked for grounds. All look OK. I put it back together and have no spark on my simple spark gap tester. I was in the process of connecting a neon to it, pulled the handle and got zapped, so there's something there, just not enough.
Questions: Does anyone know the clearance setting for the points? I'm thinking maybe the dwell is so far off maybe it won't work.
Anyone know of a good service manual for this motor, where to obtain?
