I have a 65 hp Thunderbolt engine. It is a triple cylinder, direct 3 charge ign. and I am having problems with referencing the serial number. I was told by a repair dealership that it was a 1972 engine. Even at Superior Marine their serial #'s for the 65 hp triple cyl. thunderbolt starts with either a 3 or the mid 70's that start with 4. My serial number on my motor is 7006279. Can anyone help me figure out why these numbers cannot be cross referenced to these either 3 or 4 starting number for this type of motor.
