Hey Guys, can anyone out there help me? I have a 40 hp mariner made by
yamaha. I am trying to replace the key switch. The old switch has six wires
coming out the back of switch, the replacement switch has six studs. I need
to know what wire goes where.I have 1red,1yellow,1 white,1 tan,1 black, 1
green. Any help would be appreciated. The boat shop wants 200.00 to change it out. I think that is a rip off. Thanks for your help. Frank :)

Re: switch wiring 85 mariner

Thanks for responding. That one is for a 87 up to 90's. The color of the
wires on that one is not the same as mine, also on the back of the replacement switch the studs are lettered, 2 m's, 1 I, 1 s, 1 c,1 b. I don;t
know if I will be able to figure this one out or not, might have to take to
boat shop anyway. Just trying to save some money during these hard times.
I can not find a drawing to show what wire goes where. Thanks for your time, Frank:)

Re: switch wiring 85 mariner

after more digging, I found that the console is by suzuki, the kill switch is suzuki, the choke is suzuki. Wonder if the ignition switch is suzuki? Or maybe
the wiring harness is by suzuki. Any help with this I would be grateful. Thanks
Frank:)
