I have a 1989 mercury 45 hp, and I would like to know if someone could help me out with the carburetor floating adjustment. I rebuilt the carburetor and I cannot get it right. Thanks, Jr

If it's anything like mine they are a pain in the backside. When you hold the carb upside down the floats should be perfectly level with the gasket surface.

That did the trick for me, got the engine running great, but still a bit of fuel comes out the carb throat after I shut it down. Not much, just a dribble..a tonne better then before I rebuilt them though.

Hi Ian, thanks for the tip. I will try that. The top carburetor is ok, I am having problems with the botton one. THanks, Jr.

What you do with one will effect the other. If you're rebuilding one, rebuild them both. It will make set up easier.
