9.9 mariner water pump

The last time i was out i noticed the the water would only pee out for a couple seconds then would stop then would start again . Is the the impeleller going bad or is bad ? Also the water coming out was hot. I had the impeller replaced & the new one only about 20hrs on it. Thanks

The telltale on that engine is hooked to the thermostat housing so if the thermostat is closed it stops the telltale. If you want it to at lest dribble you can remove the stat and enlarge the notch it the base to give a little water at all times.

So this sounds more like a thermostat problem then my impeller? What if i changed the thermostat ? Thanks Laddies

No the thermostat is work just designed into the engine I hate the way they work and open the notch in the base on most that I repair what good is a telltale that won't even dibble till the engine is warmed up and it is worse in cold weather
