mercury 225efi heavy smoke first start of the day

I have a 2000 merc 225 that smokes and runs poor when first start of day. after I take off and run for awhile it is ok for the rest of the day. any advise?

The below linked thread contains a long discussion on possible causes of excessive smoke at start up. In short, there are two one-way check valves on the oil injection system that if defective can cause excessive smoke. One check valve is located at the end of the hose coming from the power head and provides air pressure to the remote oil tank and the other check valve is between the oil pump and the fuel pump. There are other possible causes for too much smoke, but I would suggest replacing these two check valves as one of the first things to try. Just my thoughts...
