Hi Everyone,
I've got a 5hp single cylininder 2-stroke, year 1999
I took the lower unit off and by accident moved the shift rod. I heard what sounded like a gear change and now the rod won't change any gears up or down.
I think I have maybe pulled the rod up to much and lost the change mechanism.
Could anyone give me any pointers on how to re-insert it properly. While I wait on my manual to arrive, I had a look at a Yamaha CD I have. The 4 hp 2-stroke seems pretty similar to my Mariner. It says to be careful not to pull the rod out too much, but gives no details on putting it back in.
Does the propellor shaft need to come out to sort this?
