Mercury Quick SIlver Fuel Tank Question

I have 2 Merc Q/S portable fuel tanks that have set up for sometime. On both tanks, the "pick up" hoses have deteriorated and are basicllyu no longer there. Can these be replaced? Is there a filter that should go onth ends of the hose? A marine dealership said I was out of luck nad would have to buy new tanks, but I want some more info before doing that.
