Hi i'm going to purchase a 25 hp motor 1989 2 stroke and would like to know the weigth of the engine. My dingy allows up to 73 kg motor i know that the newer 4 stroke engines are within those limits but could not find the specs for a 89 engine 2 sroke. If someone knows the wt i would really appreciated. Thanks: ;)

4 stroke are heavier than 2 stroke. That 25 is well within your limit.

It probably depends on where you get your info. Nada says that motor is 112lbs but I would think Laddies source would be more accurate.

Laddies is always right on the money. I don't doubt him. I wouldn't trust NADA for specs.
But my 2001 falls in the 112# category for my year...got the manual to prove it. It seems odd that the model 'grew' that much. It's ain't like they added another cylinder or starting using cast iron!

Over the years the 20/25 HP model has been built in many different variables of cowlings at least 2 different power head castings plus some years are dry weight others are running weight. I don't think the manufacturers worry about to much, inless some other crows about being lighter. I hope we all have better things to spend our time on than worrying about a couple of lbs.

True that! I heading out to the woodshop.:)

I understand ligaliga's concern though. A dinghy doesn't afford too much weight hanging off the back - nor does my hydroplane. Actually, it must be a helluva dinghy to be thinking about a 25!:)
