1987? Mercury 25 hp outboard problem

ive got a 1986 or 1987 25 xd mercury that has a mid-range power problem. it starts right up and idles great. and when i give it full throttle it screams (nice, lots of power) but anywhere between idle and full throttle it doesnt rev up (until i get to full throttle then its great). anyone have any ideas? i just replaced the flywheel with one off a similar 18hp motor. and the cdi box off a differnt motor ive tried adjusting the timing but no luck. ???? clogged jet maybe?

Did you check to make sure your linkage is not sticking? Throttle cable working alright?

i had the cdi box wired wrong. my kill wire was tied into a hot wire and killing the engine everytime the motor would spin... oops. runs great now!

my 25 hp merc was running great at high speed....all of a sudden it revved up and stopped going almost altogether....it still went slow...but if I gave it any gas....it would rev up and stop.....any ideas????
