I have a 1981 Mercury 175hp outboard. The small fuel line to piston 1 was broken and the guy i bought it from didn't realize it. As a result this piston took on allot of damage due to no fuel and oil. The other 5 pistons are all in great condition and have excellent compression. The motor starts and runs (with a little white smoke at first).
I plan on replacing the problem piston this winter but was wondering if it would be a bad idea to run it as is for the rest of the season? I don't want to cause any damage to the block or the other pistons.

Don't run it like that. Bad piston might seize up and damage crankshaft or do other damage to the block etc. Just my thoughts.

Would you happen to have the troque specs for connecting rod bearings for a '93 Mercury 175?
