86 Mariner switch box question

I have a 86 Mariner, 75 HP, 4 cylinder. No fire to 1 & 2 cylinders. Did all the checks. REPLACED SWITCH BOX. Hooked up all wires except the black with yellow stripe (kill circuit, I think). I have .01 volts on this wire (yellow with black stripe) when key switch is in run position. Zero in off or start position. Is this normal or do I have a switch/wireing problem? I do have fire to all cylinders now but have not tried to start it. Sure would appreciate any thoughts, coments, or expert advice.

Re: 86 Mariner switch box question

The switchbox supplies the power to the kill circuit. Key switch off should short it to ground. (Watch out, the switchbox kill circuit will bite.)

Any voltage measured on the disconnected wire is stray/leakage. Probably not significant.

hope this helps

Re: 86 Mariner switch box question

Thanks John! That answer eases my mind. I will go ahead and hook the wire up and try it out. Sorry about the double post. Not accomplished with computer usage or terminolgy and did not understand what I needed to do to send the message.
