Mercury 50HP. The engine is not locking to the trim bar, so if enough power is applied (In reverse) the engine lifts out of the water. Reversing practically impossible.:( Any ideas?

Either the rev cam is not properly installed or it's damaged

Guessing its damaged, as it was working until mid last summer. i had the boat out the water because of ceased steering. I fixed that:D but then the lock went as a result:(. The hooks that secure to the bar, can they not have come uncoupled from somewhere within the motor?

Goto the BAM Marine site and their parts manuals will show the spring and where it goes
