Hi Guys,i am trying to find the fuel mixture for my 50hp mercury. The serial number i have. #9456469. i believe it is 100:1 although i have also been told 50:1. I assume it will foul the plugs if it has too much oil in the fuel.
The merc ignition is so strong it takes about 20:1 and idling to foul plugs.
100:1 will make scrap out of it in a hurry.
All normal mercs (fishin' motors) less than 30 years old take 50:1. Some are VRO (they mix it at a variable rate) and some racing stuff needs more oil.
I have what I believe to be a 1986 50 HP Merc on an 18' Eastern. Boy is it noisy. Would like to re-engine, but weight is an issue/ Can anyone tell me what that 50 HP (3 cyl) weighs?
I think that the motor I have is 3 cylinder, but I could be mistaken -I will check when I go to where the boat is this weekend. If that were the case, then I presume it would be lighter than the 4 cyl.
Given the floatation and the location of self bailers in the old Easterns, weight is an issue. Evinrude and Tohatsu are about 320#
I have a 1976 50 HP mercury....4 cylinder engine...
Do I use 16 oz. For 6 gallons of gas..
I have to advance my idle to get the engine started ...
Should I add Berryman's B-12 for carb cleaning
