I have a 7.5 HP mercury outboard 2 stroke. Between my buddy and I, we've always been able to fix problems. But, this time we had some trouble fixing it. One cylinder was not firing.

So, I brought it in for repair. The shop changed the switch box (it's a black box that has all the electronics) and it cost me a fortune ! The total bill was $600.00! And, when I took it out tonight, the motor would totally stop at top speed(I had to drive it a half speed to get home). The switch box that was replaced cost $300.00(I live in Canada) ! I have to bring the motor back to the shop and I will tell them that I can't pay any more money for them to get it running. Was the repair job a fair price ? Is this switch box worth $300 ????
