2005 Optimax 225 spark plugs

Can anyone tell me what are the proper NGK plugs to use for this engine? I have looked all over a bunch of forums and nobody yet has told me the part # for the plugs for this engine. Can anyone help please.

In about one minute I went to the NGK site and got this number PZFR5F-11. NGK is a very good plug, maybe it'll help that Opti-Pop.

I saw that also. That is for the 1998-2002 model. Can that be used in a 2005 model?

With an engine SN, I could tell you what Mercs recommendation from the service manual is. without a SN, it would just be guessing.

Don't know about the Opti's but on some engines there is a sticker on the engine block with the timing and spark plug information. The owners manual should also contain that information.

Right out of my Mercury Book- for my 2005 225 Mercury Optimax is:

NGK IZFR5G

.8 mm or ( .031 in ) GAP
