1997 Mercury 200 DFI Motors

Was anyone around these motors after they were put on the market? I've heard there were a lot of problems with them and Mercury even bought a bunch back from owners. I'm trying to find out as much information as possible on the recalls, problems, etc. Even looking for 1996 Mercury 200 motor problems. This is fresh water models.
