I have a 1981 Mercury 9.8hp OB long shaft 2-stroke kicker for my Cal 24'... the throttle handle recently has become disconnected from the cable losing all control of throttle control. I do not know if the cable has broken or if it simply slipped from a fittting. What I would like to know before I begin to take this entire throttle arm assembly apart is IF I am looking at replacing broken cables or broken fittings, what would the seasoned boaters here recommend I do? Should I hunt/search/order individual OEM parts? OR is there a more complete after-market throttle arm kit or cable assembly that would make life easier in the course of this repair? I am welcoming all ideas and suggestions. Thank you.

You are going to have to take it apart to fix it eather way . So pull it apart and go from there.<br />More than likely it just came off. Good Luck, Tim
