hood on motor chokes out and dies.

I had fixed one prob. to find another. My 91 15hp merc. runs great with the hood/cover off but when it's on the motor runs for a minute or 2 and sputters out and dies. I have checked the plugs and they are wet with gas. the oil/gas 50/1 mixture is correct. I believe I just need to adjust the air/fuel mixture. Any sugguestions ? My shop manuel is on order but I need this motor for this Sunday. <br /><br />Thanks

Sounds like you have an exhaust leak, cheak around the seals at the bottum of the unit to see if there good. the exhaust could be building up till there not enough oxegen for the motor to run

thanks for your reply Marauderk. <br /><br />That makes sense !!<br /><br />So would I check the lower part of the power head?<br />Do you have any more specific details I could look into ?
