I have a 2003 200 Mercury Optimax DFI that was recently rebuilt. Threw #3 rod (long story). When the engine was shipped back to me, I placed it back on my boat and within 5 minutes noticed a loud squeek/knock and the engine shut down. The engine will run but the same noise returns and shuts the engine down. A DDT showed no faults. After much testing, I removed the reed valve plate and found that HALF of the #4 piston/rod were not getting oil. The oil injection system seems to operate properly except that it is not oiling this one cylinder completely.

What could be causing this problem?

Did you prime the oil system either manually or with the DDT? Checked for any pinched lines.
