This is a 2000 model 2-stroke "classic" design. It does well at idling speed when I am trolling, but when the boat is in neutral, it will run great for a short time, sputter, then shut off. It cranks right back up, runs fine for a minute or two in neutral, sputters and dies. Cranks right back up... It will troll at 2.5 mph all day without a hitch. Any ideas?

Todd

I've got the same engine. The same thing happens to me when I first start it up if I have not either pumped the bulb at least 10 times or not have moved the idle lever (?) far enough.

When warm, it will not stall. I suspect your idle may be too low. What are you idling at?

Joe

Are you having any high rpm surging at all ?
chk fuel vents chk your air mixture screws, mine had the middle one ,not the same as the bottom and top from the factory
ran okay first couple times out when new ,but started to stall the same as yours.adjusted runs fine now.
fuel pump could be starting to act up
also carbs could be dirty or gummy
what do the plugs look like? all the same or one different?

Rich
