I have a 1993 115hp mercury 2+2, 4 cylinder outboard which idles fine, however when I engage forward gear the motor stalls.

I've replaced the fuel line (on board gas tank) ,fuel filter, and spark plugs.

Suspect the fuel pump, however, I've been told it could be electrical, fuel pump, broken piston ring, or fuel pump.

Any suggestions would be welcome

When you put it in gear try squeezing the bulb. If it keeps running that would point to a fuel delivery poroblem. If so I would start by rebuilding the carbs.

Have you checked for spark? I had a similar problem on my 1987 merc OB, 115 with an inline 6. It had a bad stator.
I first labeled plug wires, disconnected the wires, pulled all the plugs, and then connected my tester to each plug wire and cranked it over for a couple seconds. In my case, all the odd cylinders did not have spark.
