Mercury 1980, 115hp Powerhead repair/replace?

A crack developed in my 1980 L6 powerhead between the top and middle carb. Motor was running when I noticed and it will still crank. I have seen postings on here about replacing the power head with more/less HP. I have two options at this point, a replacement head is about the same as a repair, so if I look to replace/repair what would/could be the pains of each?<br />Also where would I find the SN on the engine, is it the same one from the title?<br /><br />Is there a site available to cross reference the powerheads?<br /><br />Thank-You,<br />Paul<br />SN5674934<br />I got pics of the crack, can email if you give an address.
