How do you test a fuel pump?

I was told that the problems that I'm having with my 50HP Kiekhaefer Mercury motor could be due to a faulty fuel pump.<br /><br />How do you test the fuel pump to ensure that it's working properly? Are they electronic or mechanical?

I'm not sure about your particular engine butI'd tee into the fuel line between the fuel pump and card with a pressure gauge and see what the pressure is and then check the manual and see what it should be.<br /><br />c/6<br /><br />Hooty
