Ethanol results?

Is this the results of using ethanol laced gasoline?

This is the primer housing and primer diaphragm. The only thing left is the mesh like material that the rubber is bonded to.

Can I assume that the fuel pump diaphragms are going to suffer the same fate?

I just got this motor. It seems to run fine. I just noticed fuel blowing out the weep hole in the primer body when the enricher plunger was cycled.

Edit: will post pics later. Pics are too big.

could be, however most likely its because rubber has a finite life expectancy of under 15 years......and your motor if I recall is a 2000 making it 18 years old.

its called design life.

I would suggest replacing all rubber/plastic components as most will start failing

Sounds good.

I just ordered the entire kit for the carburetor. I was surprised that the kit is used on so many different HP Mercury engines.

You need to replace/clean everything from a clean fuel tank, to the fuel injectors?,carbs.
New USCG A1 fuel lines.tank to low pressure fuel pump
Install a fuel water separator
New primer bulb
new on motor fuel filter
clean vapor separator and screen if you have it.
Clean spark plugs with tooth brush and cleaner,, gap, test with multi meter.
Clean injectors,install new filters
adjust valves,

Make sure you replace the spring under the primer assembly and make sure the ball goes back in. You do not have valves or injectors and the fuel filter can be cleaned on that motor.

Thanks. Yes the above post was a little over the top for a basic 25 hp carbed outboard.

My kit has quite a lot of parts. What comes with the kit will get changed.

Thanks

Amazing!

Just finished up changing all gaskets blowing all the foreign debris out. Put carb back on the engine and it started on the second pull. Surprised me.

Having a functional primer makes a huuuuge difference. Engine idles very smoothly now as well.
