Timing is factory set and normally needs no adjustment.----What is motor doing / not doing ?

there is an adjustment screw on the throttle arm that moved the timing. I moved the screw several times while trying yo get the motor to run. I later found out that I had a bad trigger and a bad switch box. And now runs well but I'm trying to get all the settings back to where they should be.

I had the same motor. The idle speed is controlled by the timing setting at idle, as the carbs are supposed to be completely closed at idle. I found the procedure to be more of a general suggestion. Just make sure that the wide open throttle timing setting is correct. If it doesn't idle at exactly the prescribed settings, adjust the motor to where it does, then forget it and enjoy the motor.
