2002 Mercury 40 hp 2 stroke question

I've just bought a boat the motor is a Mercury 2 stoke oil injection. I was hoping I could get some opinions on how reliable are they. I've always premix with my other boats and never gave it another thought. Now I'm wondering if I can trust this pump. I would appreciate anyone's testimonies that owns or have owned one of these motors. Thank you.

I have the 60 hp version (same block) of that motor. Bought it new in 2003, and I've never had a problem with it. I have just done the usual maintenance- impeller every few years, spark plugs, lower unit lube changes. It is a pretty simple design that Mercury used with slight upgrades for years.
