Hey there changed impeller but now won't go into gear and there is clicking noise when I rotate prop.must have done something wrong.

Welcome aboard.

Your shift shaft is out of sync with the shifter. Drop the lower unit again and follow this procedure that works easier for most of us. http://forums.iboats.com/forum/engi...od-of-shift-shaft-setup-for-mercury-outboards

Note: It will click in fwd while rotating the prop cw...it won't rotate ccw. You always must have the shifter and LU in agreement before reinstalling.

Thanks for the info.took Lu of again won't go back up last 1/4 inch.tried wiggling **** lincage but won't go.

Just a "same thing happened to me guess" The water tube isn't fitting into the water pump housing . Get some help. Also....if you are using the forward gear replacement method.......push the shift lever all the way forward.
