nah, compression checked out great still. thinking of a carb cleaning. had it out yesterday in some choppy water and after about 5 minutes of warming up i gave it some throttle and she seemed to run fine. then about ten minutes later we found some calmer water and i FINALLY got to open her up to about 3/4 throttle and boy she went! had a blast for probably almost 2 hours. and then all of a sudden the exact same surging of power came back and my top speed was about 6mph so we idled back to the boat launch. purrs like a kitten at low rpms or idling in gear. could it be possible that the water separator filter is screwed? i replaced it when i bought the boat. and it is fresh gas.
