1996 Mercury Sport Jet 120 XR same as force?

My mechanic is telling me that 96 Force sport jet 120 is not same as my 96 mercury sport jet 120 xr. He said the mercury header goes out the back and force goes down. Its not the same. Ebay seller is telling me its a direct swap. Old header will supposedly both on the force directly but mechanic disagrees.

Any advice will be helpful.
