Hello iBoats Community

Recently got myself a real 'fixer upper' of a boat. Driving it is an 1976 Mercury 1150 Tower of Power Blueband. Ive got her running and she sounds good in neutral but as soon as I give it a little gas the OB starts screaming ( over revving). Cant work out why?? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks All

OK, first things first... When throttle is in neutral, the throttle cable (top one) should push the throttle closed. If it doesn't, the barrel nut needs to be adjusted to push the throttle arm back against it's stop.

BTW - I would recommend a factory service manual, as it sounds like you will need to link and synch that motor.

Since she is stuck in reverse, either the shift cable is not moving, the upper shift rod and lower shift rod are not mated, or mated incorrectly. Let us know if the shift slider is moving.
