I have a 1976 Mercury 115Hp 1150 outboard. The shift leaver part in my controller keeps breaking a notch, so the face cam slips and gets stuck. Bad part maybe?? I ordered a new one so we will see...

In any case its getting costly if I am constantly having problems with the control. How do you adapt a new modern control to a 76 115Hp?? Will any outboard mercury remote work? I think I know I may have to get a pin harness adapter, but what kind and how do I tap into the harness?

Thank for the help!!

Newer Mercury controls will work, mechanically. I run my '77 MerControl on my '93 Merc 135V6.

However, you will need to graft the current boat wiring harness. If the new control has a wiring harness, soldered and shrink-wrapped butt connectors will work. If no harness, maybe you can solder old harness to new ign switch.

The wiring colors will be different, but a connection diaghram is easy to make.
