Mercury 1150 '76 power problems

Hi everyone,
I recently got a boat and the boat has a 1976 mercury 1150 outboard on it.
I got the starter rebuilt, new fuel pump, new distributor cap. It runs great out of the water.. once its in the water and i give it throttle its got nothing.... wont get on plane. Any ideas..? Thanks

That is a symptom of dirty or mis-adjusted carbs. Where they worked on recently? Has the motor sat a long time, between uses?

It only " sounds great " running on a hose.-----Means very little.------Do a compression test and check for strong spark on all 6 leads.------Then again it may be as simple as opening the low speed jets 1/2 turn.
