Mercury 1400 140 HP

Hey guys! If anyone could provide any documentation on this particular motor I would greatly appreciate it! I'm going to rebuild it this summer and get it back out on the water...

Looks to be a 1979 model.--------Start with a compression test.

Cowl is a 78, gearcase is early 78
99.8 cu in. Full Throttle rpm range 5300 - 5800, 2:1 gear ratio

I will most definitely! The gear case is bone dry. From what I gathered from the previous owner, is it's been sitting for about 10 years.

Is there any part(s) I should just replace for good measure?

Waterpump impeller must be replaced.

Gearcase must be filled with marine LU oil before running.
