1994 Mercury 40 hp 4 cyl 2 stroke electrical problem. Sr # 0G160616

I bought a 94 Merc 40 hp in early 2014. All was fine until late 2015 when the power pack went out causes cylinders 1 and 3 to go out. I get new power pack no problem then early 2016 we are out on the water and we are on plane then boom engine bogs and cant go above idle. I check the coils and find that only 2 cylinders are firing, 1 and 2. At this point i'm puzzled. Not even 6 months and the brand new switch box is out. Last week I order new coils thinking they magically went bad. Nope. I need help desperately. I ready to cut my losses if I cant fix her soon. I should that the voltage regulator was completely burnt up.

I'm not sure quite what you were saying there, but a bad voltage regulator can take out the switch box.
