1/2 revolution, stops. Valve or gear?

Our new to us 175xr2 sport jet engine will only turn 1/2 revolution
3 of the spark plug holes have some form of compression and suction on the other 3
It feels like somethin has dropped or a tooth has bent at the jet gear union.
Does not feel like a valve. But!
Any ideas?

Kind Regards

Welcome aboard.

The 175 XR2 is a 2 stroke, so no valves. That isn't much help, I know.

You might need to remove the impeller shaft or power head to determine if the pinion gears are causing the jam up.

Boatinfo.no has an online manual.

Says after I remove nozzle assembly to drop the stator down. I might need a special tool that looks like a flat T with a slot in it and a narrow fitting spark plug tool. Unless I want to replace the seals on the stator, that is he only special tool? The jet drive will come down with the correct nuts and bolt removed?

It says that after I remove the stator and unless I want to replace the seals on the impeller, the only special tool I need is a T screwdriver with a slot in it, & small tight fitting spark plug size socket. Jetdrive will just drop down after nuts and bolts are free

I have pulled 8 nuts off the head to drive
The manual says there are 4 more once the head is off

Should I have the ride plate off first?

Thanks!

I suspect it is a bearing
And I don't see grease nipples
So, whilst apart. Other things...
Oil squirt/injection gear?
All other bearings...?

KindRegards

Can you pull all of the spark plugs out and insert a drinking straw or something similar into the holes, and turn flywheel by hand to verify that all pistons are moving? A broken connecting rod can give you a partial revolution, then the crankshaft offset hits the broken rod and it won't turn further

Thanks Blkbeard, first thing was a boroscope. All Pistons move up and down. Don't know my train of thought there. But really what else?
I separated engine from jet housing. It is not the jet. Jet turns freely.
Engine on the other hand, only gives 1/2 rotation in either direction. Humf

Ahh right. Makes the most sense.
No chance if it was beached rear in. Rock or something could get in?

Where is/are the best prices on engine parts. I suspect I can find a piston in fleabay. Head gaskets, etc... What else?
Also, anything on the While In There list
Oil injector gear...

Thanks!
