I have a 1983 MCM228R with a MC1 sterndrive. First thanks for the help on my last post regarding hard turning of prop in forward gear. As suggested I followed the link on how to adjust the shift cable. With adjustment completed the boat shifts as it should. In FWD gear the clutch dog engages keeping the prop from rotating CCW. In REVERSE gear the clutch dog engages keeping the prop from rotating CW. When prop is rotated CW for FWD and CCW for REVERSE there is a noticeable clack-clack-clack noise which I think is the gear moving over the dog clutch. Is this normal and how loud should this noise be?

Normal or not, I couldn't tell you. I can say my dad's boat is the same way though.
