1988 115 small oil leak

I have a 88 model 115 mercury. I had it parked in my driveway yesterday putting new carpet on and at the end of the day I noticed a very small spot where oil had leaked out of a small hole in the side of the foot. This is my first outboard so I know nothing about them. Can someone please tell me this is a small problem not a big one!!!! I did noticed after I wiped it off it hadn't leaked anymore during the next 2-3 hours

if its black its more than likely fine, its un bunt 2 stoke oil

Smell the drip. If it stinks it is likely gearoil and you have a leak. If it smells like regular oil or gasoline, it is likely unburnt fuel and is normal.
