2000 40HP Mercury, no water from the tell tale. Unclogged the tell tale hole and checked the hose for blockage, none. Replaced the water pump as a kit, double checked washers installed above and below the impeller and the key is installed. Held the shaft with my right hand and turned in the direction of my thumb to ensure the impeller was installed correctly. Still no tell tale. Dropped the lower unit again, rechecked everything and held a hose up to where the water pump connects to the tube going up to the block and water streamed out of the tell tale. Was using muffs to check the water flow, so I next tried filling a tote with water to a point above the water inlet with the same results. Where should I go from here?
