I am working on a Merc 800 80 4cyl, S/N 5583341. I have trouble starting , I think flooding? I can squeeze the bulb until it gets hard and keep (slightly reduced) pressure on it and it goes down.Looks like the carbs are flooding. So I have the new needle and seats, gasket kit and purchase new jets. I did not know at the time my carbs are a WM-10-3 and a WM-12-1.
One has a .082 jet and one has a .090. In the high speed holes.
One has no jet in the vent and one has a .072 in the vent.
I have a .092 and (2) .082 new jets that I ordered thinking that the .082 would work in my high speed jets. I'm not really sure how I ended up with a .092 but can I put that one in the vent hole? Leave it completely out like it was?
Will the two .082 high speed jets work in both carbs OK. In the WM10 and WM12?

Sorry for the confused post. Thanks for any advice or opinions.

A quick search of your engine model shows that there appears to be many options as far as carb numbers go and your 10 and 12 numbers are listed when you start looking at the jet sizes, etc..

It's always recommended to know what carb numbers you have before ordering any parts. Especially with outboards as they "sometimes" may use different numbered carbs, Venturis, Jet Sizes when there are multiple carbs mounted to the engine.

Here's your carb parts for your engine model and you'll notice the sizes you listed above are there, https://www.perfprotech.com/mercury...arburetor-assembly/assembly/678/70?umodel=356

Do you have the OEM service manual to help guide you through this process.

As a quicker reference, here's some carb info for you found in an aftermarket service manual,

Thanks a bunch. I recently purchased this boat and although the motor has started and ran, starting is sporadic. I'll read and see if I can't use the same jets in both model of carbs. I can always order the correct size if not. Should have taken them apart before ordering the first time. I thought they would both be the same and I knew the model. I guess not.
