I have my controls ordered and now its time fro the electrical. I am looking fro an explanation for the 8 wire plug on the motor so I can wire up a key switch for cutoff and starting. Would help to know what all 8 pins do and how they should be wired. Thanks in advance fro any help.

Wow that's confusing. Just trying to figure out how to wire an ignition switch and tach.

Ayuh,.... The control's whip should just plug into the motor, 'n have it's own keyswitch,....

The tach will run off the 3 pin plug on the controller,....

I don't have a whip, I am using universal side mount control for my center console. Its a Sl3 I bought off line. I got the cables and the control in today. I will have to run my own ignition switch wiring and kill switch. Just trying to understand the kill switch wire for now. Does it need a ground to shut to motor off or 12 volts, I assume its a ground it needs. Planning on running the boat tomorrow after I get the control and cables installed.
